Open Source Licenses
The open source software behind the GIF converter, compressor and editor tools on ChatGPTGIF.net, its licenses, and where to get the source code.
Last updated: 2026-11-05
The GIF converter, compressor and editor tools on ChatGPTGIF.net run inside your browser. The heavy lifting is done by open source software that we did not write and have not changed. This page lists it, the licenses it comes under, and where to get the source code. The AI GIF generator pages are not covered here: they run on servers, not in your browser.
What runs in your browser
When you use a converter, compressor or editor tool, your browser downloads these unmodified packages and runs them on your device. Your files are not uploaded.

Source code
- ffmpeg.wasm: the exact source of the build we use, including the Dockerfile and the build scripts that pin every library version, is the ffmpeg.wasm v12.15 release, which publishes @ffmpeg/core 0.12.10. FFmpeg itself is the n5.1.4 tag.
- Gifsicle: the WebAssembly build and its build files are in the gifsicle-wasm-browser repository (npm release 1.5.19), built from Gifsicle 1.92 by way of wasm-codecs/gifsicle.
- The MIT libraries above are in their linked repositories, and unchanged on npm.
If any of those links stops working, write to support@chatgptgif.net and we will send you a complete copy of the corresponding source code, at no charge beyond the cost of delivering it. This offer is valid for three years from the last time we served the software.
