Before
AfterHow to Do a GIF Face Swap in Three Steps
Two files in, one GIF out once the swap launches.
- 1
Add the GIF
Drop in the GIF you want to change, up to 20 MB. The preview plays it and shows its width and height, frame count and file size, so you can see what you are about to swap. No GIF handy? Try a sample GIF in one click.
- 2
Add one face photo
Add a JPG, PNG or WebP of one person, up to 10 MB, ideally front-facing and clear. A thumbnail confirms it, and you can remove it and pick another. Or try a sample face.
- 3
Press Swap Face
The button wakes up once both files are in. Today it opens a short waitlist form with your email, and we write once when the swap works. At launch the browser will split the GIF into up to 30 frames, give each frame the new face and put the frames back together into a GIF to download.
Prepare Your Files for a GIF Face Swap
Small choices in the two files decide how the swap will look.
- Pick a GIF with one clear, visible face; a GIF face swap works from exactly that.
- Use a front-facing, well-lit photo of one person for the face.
- Choose a face photo without sunglasses, a hand or a hat across the face.
- Keep the GIF under 20 MB and the photo under 10 MB, or the upload is refused.
- Check the frame count in the preview: the swap will cover up to 30 frames.
- Use only your own face, or a face you have permission to use.
What Happens to Your Files Before the Swap Launches
This page is a preview of the tool, and we say so plainly.
Nothing is uploaded yet
Your GIF and your face photo stay in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, no GIF face swap is made and nothing is charged.
We ask only for your email and one question
If you press Swap Face, a form asks for your email and what you will make GIFs for. We use the email to tell you once when the swap works.
Consent comes first
Only use your own face, or a face you have permission to use. Do not swap a face into a GIF to impersonate anyone or to make sexual, defamatory or harassing content.
The example shows real model output
The before and after above is a real result: a GIF and a face photo in, the same GIF with the new face out, 10 frames, made with the model we plan to use. Your own result will be AI output, so compare it with the original GIF before you share it. A face swap can miss on a hard frame, and a GIF stores only 256 colors per frame.
